Today though, pickup lines don’t work the way it worked years ago. Here are the reasons why:

1. Because of its popularity and over exposure, women are familiar of this technique already. They could already tell when you are trying to pick them up with those lines. Thanks to Mystery and his show, The Pickup Artist.

2. Pickup lines today are mostly used by the young ones. It is regarded as a bit of an amateur dating technique. If you are 25 years of age and above and you use this technique, women might just laugh at you because most probably they have already heard your line before.

3. Pickup lines are like scripts. The thing though is, you are not an actor who is trying to shoot a movie. If you just rely on your script or your pickup lines, how will you be able to create a good conversation with women? You will never know what will happen so you cannot really create the most appropriate pickup line.

4. In dating, you should know how to keep the conversation going and interesting – and it cannot be found in your script. If you had a list of topics to talk with women, you don’t have to rub them all in during your conversation. Let them serve as your guide when you run out of topic. The important thing is that you should keep the flow of the conversation as smooth as it can be.

Today, a lot of dating techniques has been developed by dating gurus and pickup artists. The mystery method, for example, has been developed by Mystery the pickup artist. You can actually learn a whole lot of ideas and develop your own natural dating skills from pickup artists if you attend their trainings and bootcamps.

I am not entirely against online dating. This article is not to discourage you but to make you realize why you should go out dating instead of doing it in front of your computer.

1. With the millions of people joining in online dating, it gives you lesser chances of being chosen by the women you send emails or messages to.

2. There is no assurance that you are indeed talking to a hot and beautiful woman. There are a lot of posers that have spread in the internet.

3. Your safety is at stake if you give out too much information on the internet. As mentioned above, there are a lot of posers nowadays and you can never tell what their true intentions are.

4. The chance of meeting your online date is very weak – unless you put much dedication to it especially if you are miles or oceans apart.

5. You will no longer have social life if you dedicate too much of your time in front of your computer – unless you consider having social life with facebook, twitter, and the likes. Since you really have to invest much time in online dating if you want to succeed in it, then your chances of spending your time outdoors is very low.

6. Did you know that one of the main reasons why there is a large percentage of obesity in the US alone is the internet? So if you don’t want to double your size, start engaging in outdoor activities to get your body moving and burn some fats. If you don’t want to burn your fats then at least don’t collect them in your body.

7. I guess the most important reason why you should go out is because you will never develop your dating skills in front of your computer. Even if you have good conversational skills online, it is no guarantee that you are as good in face-to-face conversation.

Shyness, inexperienced, or unskilled is not a reason why you should stick to online dating. You can never learn and master the mystery method or any dating techniques if you never try them. Neil Strauss was not a pickup artist. He is a known author, journalist and ghostwriter. He is a contributing editor at Rolling Stone and a regular writer for The New York Times. Then he “penetrated” the pickup artist community and became a known Pickup Artist.

So there is no reason why you should not go out and meet women. Start now and develop your skills and be one of the experts in dating.

Perhaps you have heard of speed dating. It is called speed dating because you get to date 20-30 dates in just an hour. Wow, honestly I cannot imagine dating 20 women in just an hour. But in speed dating, it is possible. Sounds interesting huh?

Speed dating is not your ordinary idea of dating. It is not the kind of dating that David DeAngelo would recommend, I suppose. It is actually a service offered by some companies. Basically, a number of women are grouped together and each of them has cards that represent the men. On the other hand, men are assigned a place and they also have the numbers that represent the women.

Any man can start with any woman. For example, man number twelve can start with woman number 1 or 2. Then each couple is given five to ten minutes to talk. It depends on the company’s procedure but it usually ranges from four minutes to ten minutes. During that time, each couple can talk just about anything – interests, sports, sex, movies, etc. When the time is up, each man and woman will mark their partner’s number with a ‘yes’ or a ‘no’. Yes means that you are interested with him/her and if you both marked a yes to each other, you will get his/her contact details in a few days.

After you are done with your first partner, you then go to the next one. This process repeats until you have seen every woman during the event.

Speed dating is ideal for men who are shy and have problems in approaching women. In this event, you do not need to use the mystery method or worry on how you will approach them. You can start with a “Hi” then introduce yourself and get on with the conversation. Another good thing about speed dating is that you get to meet several women. You do not just meet them casually but you really have the chance to talk with them. If you don’t succeed with speed dating, then I think it’s about time you have to learn some dating skills.

The answer to the above questions is yes. If you are going out, attending a party or any social gathering, you cannot avoid to mingle with other people unless you really intend to. These social gatherings are a good opportunity to meet women and find a date. If you have no idea what the mystery method is, no need to worry because you can find a date without it. Just make sure that you look good enough and wear enough self-confidence. Mingle with people and spot for girls who shows some sign that they are flirting with you or that they like you.

How they do that? Here are some signs:

1. She winks at you at a distance or even while talking to you.

2. She is playing with her hair while looking at you.

3. She bites her lips, shows her tongue, or licks her lips.

4. She puts her fingernail in between her teeth.

5. She touches your hand, shoulder, or thigh while talking to you.

6. Among other guests or people around the place, she talks to you only and gives all her attention to no one but you.

7. She crosses her legs and points it towards you; while her legs are crossed, she rocks it back and forth towards you. (But make sure she also looks at you from time to time or you might just misinterpret her.)

8. She looks at you with deep interest while her pupils are dilated.

9. Perhaps the most obvious is when she blushes when you’re around.

Social gatherings gives you more chances of getting a date because of the number of people present. If you don’t have good dating skills, and you don’t have time to delve in on how Neil Strauss penetrated the secret society of Pickup Artists, it would be an advantage if you can tell that a woman is flirting with you.  It’ll be much easier to approach her knowing that she’s into you.

In meeting women, or even just trying to catch their attention, men would do unusual things, be very generous, extra kind and sweet, etc. just to impress them: They would only say things that they think would impress her; they tend to get formal during a conversation, and; they avoid teasing her or do anything that they think would upset her.

These things actually make you become unnatural. Sometimes, in trying to avoid screwing things up on your first meeting, being unnatural can, in fact, screw it all up. We cannot really avoid it most of the times because we want to attract women. But haven’t you wondered why it does not usually work? Women may be impressed but they don’t get attracted to you.

You may have learned about the mystery method and other dating techniques from pickup artists. But the best way to impress a woman is by being natural. Forget about trying to impress her. Make her feel emotionally attracted to you. Do not memorize any scripts or pickup lines. Relax, be confident, and enjoy her company.

Make her feel comfortable when talking to you. Don’t be afraid to tease her but do it gently. Humor hasn’t backfired in attracting women yet, so keep it going. You may try the cocky & funny technique by David DeAngelo. But you need to be really good at it for it to work effectively.

Each man has their own unique qualities that will attract women. If you try to be someone you’re not, it won’t be too attractive for her. If you want to learn some dating skills, you need to practice first until it becomes natural in you. Remember, don’t try hard to look or sound cool in front of her. It’s usually obvious when men do that.

Not all of us may want to be a pickup artist or use any of their techniques like the mystery method, but let’s admit it, these pickup artists have the skills that most of us wishes to have.

If you don’t want to be a pickup artist but you want to learn how to attract women, consider these three tips:

Confidence – Develop your self-confidence, it will be your best asset. Women get more attracted to confident men that those who are not. But don’t be over-confident as it may destroy you. Nobody likes an arrogant being. The best thing to do is to stay calm and relax to avoid nervousness. If she feels that you are nervous, she will think that you lack confidence and that will not attract her.

Listening Skills – Good communication is how you should play it. Most dating tips would advise you to think of interesting topics or give you some script. But the key to a good communication is listening. If you listen to what she has to say, it wouldn’t be too difficult to think on what to say next. In fact, your conversation might go smoothly.

Good Grooming – Physical appearance also matters to women. They may not really be looking for handsome or hot men, but what they look in your physical appearance is overall cleanliness. You don’t need to dress like Mystery the Pickup Artist.  Just make sure you have taken a bath, shaved, cleaned your shoes, ironed your clothes, etc.

If you don’t want to attend a bootcamp, seminars, or pickup trainings, just develop more confidence, practice your listening skills, and get yourself well-groomed. It will all be enough to start attracting women.

If that is the case, dating can be harder compared to women. So men should learn how to flirt, too. Its not like showing some skin like women do. They can’t be seduced in that way. The mystery method and other dating techniques might do but a little flirting will be easier and more fun. You do not have to follow the footsteps of David DeAngelo or “Penetrate the Secret Society of the Pickup Artists” like what Neil Strauss did.

Every man is capable of flirting in their own way. Sometimes, if they like a woman, they’d be a little show-off or they would act in an unusual way – either a bit shier or more hyped. But doing it the right way can be useful in winning her.

Some guys’ flirting skills come out only when texting or when interacting online. But when put face-to-face, they become shy. These men will be outplayed by those who are more confident and up-front. If you get too flirtatious over text and not so much in real life, it will be a problem once you both start to go out on a real date.

In flirting, confidence is your best asset. If you think you do not have that, don’t worry, it can be developed. Learn how to be confident and practice more often so that it would come out naturally when you attempt to flirt with someone.

Be very careful when you try to flirt. You should do it right or else it will be over. Giving too much of a complement to a woman might make her feel awkward. Timing is important. Also, play a little hard to get. It is more fun and it will make her want you more.

In dating, physical appearance and intelligence is not the ultimate asset of men. If you notice, when you were in school, hot girls don’t date those intelligent guys. You will see them going out with the bullies, athletes, the naughty ones, but not with the genius guys. Take note that we are using the word, “intelligent” here instead of “smart”. There’s a heck of a difference between the two and I am not going to delve deeper into differentiating them.

Moving on, these intelligent guys may seem to be the ideal type for most women. Yet, the hot ladies end up going out with the “skilled” ones. I’m referring to guys who have skills when it comes to women. Mystery the pickup artist doesn’t look like any woman’s ideal man. But he founded the mystery method which is very effective in pickup and seduction. Now see how successful he is when it comes to dating women.

Most of these intelligent men lack is social skill. Some guys may have all the qualities – smart, good looking, clean and tidy – but if they lack the skills, those qualities will be useless in dating. Doesn’t David DeAngelo look exactly what I have described? But David D. has already gone past that stage and is now a dating expert. We may live in a modern society but old practices don’t die – men are still expected to do the first move. That is why social skill is a very important factor in pickup.

Being intelligent is a good quality but it isn’t enough. It is definitely a good quality but couple it with social skills and you’ll be a total catch for women. Nobody wants to talk to a walking dictionary and nobody wants to go out with a boring person.

Social skill per se is a broad term. There are a lot of things to learn if you want to be an expert in dating: Confidence, dating etiquettes, openers, personal development, and the likes. But once you get the hang of these all, it will all be worth it.

The mystery method is not just a simple dating technique. It is composed of several phases: Attraction, Comfort, and Seduction. Each of these phases are divided into 3 parts:

Now, because of its popularity, even women are aware of the mystery method already. Most men think that it is overused now and that it won’t be as effective as before. There is no doubt to Mystery’s skills as a pickup artist. It has been tested and proven. So it would really be nice to get something new from him.

More men prefer to learn other techniques in dating now that the mystery method is getting more publicity. Men are now shifting their attention to other pickup artists. These PUAs has developed their own pickup techniques as well.

The Cocky & Funny technique by David DeAngelo has been widely used also. Being cocky & funny works well if you use it correctly – not too cocky and not too funny. Julian Foxx and Vin DiCarlo developed a technique on Phone Game. Simple yet very effective.

These techniques by other pickup artists are also very helpful in dating. Their only difference with the Mystery Method is popularity. Mystery had a tv show with VH1, so there is no question on how the Mystery Method got more popular than other pickup techniques.

In learning pickup and seduction, you just have to be serious in it. It is not just about learning the techniques in women but it is more on improving yourself.

Although the truth is, appearance of men also matters for women in a somehow different way. If the first thing you check on a woman is her face or breasts, women would check on little but important details like your tidiness. It would be a total turn-off if they see that your fingernails are dirty. Women check out our looks in a different way.

Usually, being cocky & funny isn’t enough in attracting women. If you think you have succeeded on attracting a woman by that technique of David DeAngelo, do not be too confident yet. Once she sees your dirty shoes or even your lousy attire, she would easily get turned-off.

Pickup and seduction is not just about dating techniques, you should take care of yourself, too. If there is anything about your physical appearance that isn’t attractive, or might put women off, do something about it. If you feel that you don’t have a sense of fashion, try searching for what’s IN for men right now. Observe how other men choose their outfit. If you have a bad breath, try to get rid of it. Even just taking care of your hygiene would help a lot on improving your physical appearance.

You don’t need to spend much in taking care of yourself, especially your hygiene. It is actually one of the dating techniques used by other men and maybe even some pickup artists. It will not also take much of your time to make yourself look clean like shaving, brushing your teeth, polishing your shoes, and stuffs like that. Try to find that article from the pickup artist, Julian Foxx, about taking care of your hygiene. It is where I have learned the importance of our hygiene. They were just simple tips but they can create a great impact on women.

So aside from learning dating techniques, you should also start learning on how to make yourself look good at least by being neat and clean. The mystery method and other dating techniques can be effective in attracting ladies, but it would be more effective if you make yourself look good and presentable.
